Welcome to the Lake City R/C website.
We are an AMA chartered club organized for the purpose of enjoying building and flying model airplanes for fun. Members fly a large variety of aircraft. On any given flying day, you may see planes that are gas or glow powered, electric, helicopters, rubber band, sailplanes, or even gliders.
Members are very willing to give advice and help if you are new to the hobby. Also, the club can provide flying instructions. To fly, you must be a member of the Academy Of Model Aeronautics (AMA). Our instructors use the buddy box system with your equipment or the club's trainer plane. For people who may be interested in the flying model hobby, an introduction flight with an instructor can be arranged for you to experience flying radio controlled planes.
Club meetings are held every month and frequently we have cookouts at the same time. Our flying site has a member maintained large landing strip with a shelter, benches, starting tables, and parking area. The take off and landing strip is a huge 90' x 850' grass runway and is mowed weekly during growing season. The field also has a solar powered battery charging station. The club's overflying area is a hay field that is about 37+ acres.
